  • Harry Hill is to film a studio audience sitcom for the BBC
  • The premise will see him living at home with his mother (played by Jennifer Saunders)
  • A pilot is due to be filmed at Pinewood Studios in early July

Harry Hill is working on a sitcom pilot for the BBC.

The family-friendly comedy will focus on the comedian playing a version of himself. His character will be seen living at home with mother, a role given to Ab Fab star Jennifer Saunders.

The producers say: “Showbiz exclusive!!! Harry Hill still lives at home with his mum! And his mum is Jennifer Saunders!”

Talking about the style of the show, they add: “This is not to be missed! Expect the unexpected with a brilliantly mad story straight from the mind of Harry Hill with an all-star cast.”

The pilot will be filmed in front of a live studio audience. The BBC recently signalled that they are looking to make more studio sitcoms, but very few people are writing them.

It is not currently known whether Hill’s new project – currently titled The Harry Hill Sitcom – will be seen on TV, or if the pilot is being filmed for internal test purposes only.

The recording is due to take place on Wednesday 11th July at Pinewood Studios. Free tickets

Hill, who quit TV Burp in 2012, has since developed a number of new TV formats to star in. Harry Hill’s Tea Time has so far run for two series on Sky, and his ITV panel show Harry Hill’s Alien Fun Capsule recently concluded its second series. He is also currently working on The Remote Controller, a format he co-devised for Channel 4. It sees Alan Carr overseeing members of the public pitching TV show ideas to a panel, with the best then trialled.

Further details on The Harry Hill Sitcom are expected to be revealed in due course.
