Comedian Adam Kay has announced a new tour this December based on the second volume of his NHS diaries.
Having trained and initially worked as a doctor, Kay’s best-selling This Is Going To Hurt: Secret Diaries Of A Junior Doctor has won numerous awards and a previous live show has toured to sell-out audiences and widespread acclaim.
A second festive-set volume, Twas The Nightshift Before Christmas, is due to be published on 17th October, and a new live tour based around the book has now been revealed, with an initial ten dates now on sale.
Promoters say: “Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat… but 1.4 million NHS staff are heading off to work. Twas The Nightshift Before Christmas is a love letter to all those who spend their festive season on the front line, removing babies and baubles from the various places they get stuck, at the most wonderful time of the year.
“This brand new live show mixes highlights from the book with Adam Kay‘s award winning stand-up comedy and exclusive new content. The ticket price includes a hardback copy of the book (RRP £9.99) and there will be the opportunity for Adam to sign copies after the show.”
This Is Going To Hurt has sold over 1.5 million copies since publication in 2017 and has been a Sunday Times number one bestseller for a record-breaking nine months. It has won multiple awards including Book of the Year at the National Book Awards and has been translated into over 35 languages. Adam is currently adapting his diaries for a major BBC Two comedy drama.
